The End of An Era- The Last “Camden" Rapini
Our Aunt Adele died peacefully in her sleep on December 4, 2016 at 100yrs of age. She was the last surviving sibling of the 9 that were born to her parents the beloved Pasquale and Secondina (Sadie). The 8 siblings who predeceased her were: Carrie, Josie, Frank, Yippie, Eve, Fernie, Evelyn and Gloria. They all grew up in the family home in S. Camden at 4th & Division Sts. and made Mt. Carmel Parish their second home.
Adele was the doting aunt of many nieces and nephews including the following families: Bates, Jarzabeks, Klodnickis, Olsens, Potenas, Rapinis, Rongas and Zellers. While never married, she lived with her dear sister, Eve, and their bachelor brother Frank, for many years on Kingston Dr. in Cherry Hill. Since 2003, she was a resident at St. Mary’s Catholic Home, Cherry Hill, initially with her sister Eve who died August 14, 2005
Adele was always attractive-looking, with her great hairdos, white teeth & great complexion, aided by her facile make-up abilities. She was a snazzy dresser and certainly had her share of suitors “back in the day,” but never made it to the matrimonial altar, just like her long-term roommates, Frank & Eve.
She worked for many years as an operator at Bell Telephone and was actually one of the first pioneers that worked there. She was also a long time member of the Queen Of Heaven R. C. Church, (Rt. 70) in Cherry Hill and was a rather devout prayer woman.
We can all rejoice in her centenarian status, as she truly made the Italian exhortation, Cento Anni, come true in her own very long life.
We love you, miss you, and hope to see you again in glory.
