On July 7, 2017, Antoinette J. Colombo passed away peacefully at the age of 87.

Antoinette is predeceased by her loving parents Francesco & Maria Giovani (Jennie) Colombo, brothers Jerome, Michael (Angie), Albert (Phyllis) and Joseph, her sister Theresa Clark (Walter), niece Aleyne, and longtime companion Louis Santangelo.

Antoinette was born on September 16, 1929 to Italian immigrant parents.  She was raised in the close knit “Little Italy” neighborhood of South Camden, where most people were either an aunt, uncle or cousin-even if not by birth-and everyone looked out for the other.  Taking after her mother and sister Tessie, Antionette learned to sew early in life and became an expert at it.  Once she completed her schooling, she worked as a seamstress in the garment industry. In time, Antoinette found her entrepreneurial spirit and opened “Colombo’s Tailor Shop” just a few blocks from home on S. 3rd Street.  After a few years she moved the establishment to Westfield Avenue in Pennsauken NJ, added dry cleaning services, and changed the name to “A. Colombo Cleaners & Alterations.” With success, she made one more change. She purchased a commercial building containing living quarters. It was remodeled and she, mother and Joe then moved to their new home in Pennsauken.  During her lifetime Antoinette lovingly integrated caring for her disabled brother Joe, as well as her aging mother; all before, during and after business hours.  After many successful years in business she retired, and continuing her care for Joey, they moved to Cherry Hill with her companion Louis Santangelo.  Throughout her life Antoinette enjoyed spoiling her nieces and nephews, playing cards, baking, and visits with family and friends. She was affectionately known as “Ant” or “T” to her friends and “Ziz” by her nieces and nephews.

Antoinette is survived by 5 nephews and 3 nieces; 9 great nieces and 6 great nephews; 3 great great nieces and 1 great great nephew and many dear friends.  She will be missed by all.

Committal prayer service will be held Thursday 11:00am at New St. Mary’s Cemetery Mausoleum, Bellmawr, NJ.  Arr. by the BOCCO FUNERAL HOME, Cherry Hill.  For expanded obituary, please visit: www.BoccoFuneralHome.com
