Andres B. Aquino passed away on March 4, 2021, age 80 of Cherry Hill, NJ. Andy was born in Bagabag, Nueva Vizcaya Philippines on November 27, 1940 to Ambrosio DeVera Aquino and Josefa Pisang Bariuan Aquino. He was the second child of three children.
Andy was a member of the inaugural class of St Jerome’s academy where he graduated in 1956. He continued his academic career which took him from Aldersgate College in Solano, Nueva Vizcaya to Philadelphia Community College, and finally to American University in Washington DC where he completed his education.
In 1966, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He was a Navy corpsman until 1976, when he retired honorably to be with his family. He then began his career with the Disabled American Veterans as a National Service Officer, representing veterans and their dependents in hearings before the VA and the Social Security Administration until he retired in 1991.
Andy was a founding member of the Philippine Community of Southern New Jersey, in which he served a term as its president from 1993-1994. He was active in the Santo Niño Prayer Group of South Jersey for 39 yrs and was the prayer group’s head servant. He was also head servant for the Our Lady Miraculous Medal Prayer Group from 1998-2000.
Andy volunteered with the elderly at St. Mary’s Nursing Home in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. He was also an active volunteer at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception Church in Camden, New Jersey, where he helped feed the homeless, organize fundraisers, assisted with treasury duties, and served as a Eucharistic minister.
Andy is survived by his wife Tina and their 7 children Lynne Aquino, Alda Bristow (Gerard), Irene Angud, Liza Reyes (Jim), Helen Richards (Brian), Michelle Santiago (Mike), Andrew and Eileen Aquino. They have 19 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren, whom he enjoyed bonding with every chance he got.
Relatives and friends will meet for his viewing and funeral on Wednesday March 17th from 8:30am to 10:30am at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception, 642 Market Street, Camden, NJ 08102. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10:30am Wednesday March 17th. Interment will be private.
