James E. Escuti

James E. Escuti, 80, passed away peacefully at his home on October 13, 2021.

Jim was born in Chile in 1940.  He moved to Philadelphia with his parents and siblings.  He attended school in Philadelphia.  The family moved back to Chile.  Jim returned to U.S, working odd jobs to make ends meet.  He moved up the corporate ladder with a battery company (Rayovac) and traveled to many countries (Mexico, Venezuela, Zaire, and Dominican Republic). In the 1990s, he began working for the Social Security Administration.  In 2002 he retired.  In 2015, he became a driver for Uber until July 2021.

         He volunteered many years for the Philadelphia Ronald McDonald House as a van driver, and as an assistant in the accounting department.  He earned an MBA from Saint Joseph’s University. He knew several languages: Spanish, French, Italian, some German and some Lingala (the language spoken in Zaire).  He loved to run.  He ran in many races in several countries.  In his later years, he did a lot of bicycling.   

        James was married three times: Sylvia Gomez, Dorothy Escuti, Paola Gajardo.  He had one son with his first wife, Jaime Gomez, and had two sons with his second wife, Michael Escuti and Christopher Escuti.  He is survived by three former wives, three sons, three grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. 

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to his viewing and funeral on Tuesday morning from 10:00am to 11:00am in the BOCCO FUNERAL HOME, 1300 North Kings Hwy., Cherry Hill, NJ 08034.  Funeral services will be conducted 11:00am Tuesday morning in the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in James’ memory to: Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Philly Region, 3925 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA 19104.  The funeral service will be livestreamed to the Bocco Funeral Home Facebook page at 11:00am on Tuesday (https://www.facebook.com/pages/category/Funeral-Service---Cemetery/Bocco-Funeral-Home-160867953936518/)
