Obituary

Our dear mother, Mary Ann Bernadette Valentino-Rouh, age 80, affectionately known as "Mom Mom" Valentino to her eleven grandchildren, and as "Mare" to her friends, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 11th, 2024, in Washington Township, NJ.  Our mom was born on June 20th, 1943, in Camden, NJ to Anthony (Tony) Valentino and Margaret (Marge) Valentino, nee Cianfrani. As a young woman, Mary Ann was trained as a hairdresser at P&B Beauty School in Gloucester City, NJ and often had the neighborhood kids in Deptford, NJ line up for free haircuts. She also worked as a housekeeper for local nursing homes where the elderly residents also enjoyed a free haircut and style courtesy of Mary Ann. She is predeceased by her parents (Mt. Laurel, NJ), her late brother John Valentino (formerly of Camden then Mt. Laurel, NJ), and her nephew James (Jimmy) Valentino.

Over the years, Mary Ann was known for her charitable spirit toward others, which included providing a safe and loving home for many foster children. She was extremely patriotic and often decorated her home and Christmas tree accordingly. She was loved by her family and friends for her engaging sense of humor. She loved watching and cheering on her beloved Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles sports teams. She will be remembered for her love of her best friend/husband Fred, her children, and grandchildren as well as her love for dining out at her favorite restaurants especially Italian and 'all-you-can-eat' crabs. Her and Fred shared their love of music of the 50's. As a Jersey girl, she enjoyed her frequent trips to the casinos in Atlantic City, NJ, and walking along the boardwalk and the beach at the Jersey shore. Mary Ann was still driving herself to the shore and to visit her family and friends up until a few weeks before she fell ill with some recent setbacks in her health. She is a breast cancer survivor.

Mary Ann is survived by her husband John (Fred) Rouh (formerly Camden and Gloucester City, now Clementon, NJ), her five adult children, Mary Ann (Sissy) Collins (Selbyville, DE), Anthony (Tony) Collins and his wife Kim Collins (West Chester, PA), Brigitte Collins-Turner (Dallas, Texas), Anthony (Ben) Valentino and his wife Latasha Valentino (Buckhannon, WV) and Patrice (Patsy) Valentino (Breinigsville, PA); her eleven grandchildren Nicole Faralli, Sofia Faralli, Anthony Collins, Erik Collins, Lily Turner, Liam Turner, Regina Petrovich, Haley, Chase, Blake and Cali Valentino; her nephews Dan Valentino and his wife Bette Valentino (Middletown, DE) and John (Jack) Valentino (Barrington, NJ) as well as several great-nieces, great-nephews, her cousins, and many, many friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.
