Carmelo Luigi Marinzoli

Carmelo Luigi Marinzoli, age 93 of Cherry Hill, passed away peacefully on October 12, 2022 surrounded by his loving family.

Carmelo was born in Ossero, Italy in 1928, first child of Matteo and Carmela, later joined by siblings Gino, Rosetta and Toni. After World War II, Carmelo escaped from the communist-occupied Kvarner Islands to mainland Italy. His family later followed, and they settled in Camogli, Genova, Italy. As a chief engineer in the Italian Merchant Marine, he sailed all over the world.

Carmelo emigrated to America in 1968 where he later met his devoted wife Rosa. They settled in Cherry Hill, NJ and raised their 2 sons Matthew & Mark, and were later graced with 4 grandchildren. Carmelo was an engineer at heart and worked with his hands all his life – fixing whatever was broken, tending to his beautiful garden, and even painting. He was happiest by the water and loved sailing and fishing in the Barnegat Bay.

Although Carmelo’s journey in this world has ended, we are certain he will find fair winds and following seas as he sets sail on his next voyage of everlasting life. Carmelo is survived by his wife Rosa, sons Matthew (Jennifer) & Mark (Margaret), grandchildren Chloe, Antonio, Olivia & Vincenzo, siblings Gino (Ida), Rosetta (Albino) & Toni (Elena), and nieces & nephews. They will always remember their beloved “Lepi”, “Papà”, “Nonno”, “Fradel”, and “Zio”.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to meet for his viewings on Sunday evening from 6:00PM to 8:00PM and on Monday morning from 9:00AM to 10:00AM all at the BOCCO FUNERAL HOME, 1300 North Kings Highway, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034. Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday morning at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 42 W. Main Street, Moorestown, NJ 08057, followed by interment at Calvary Cemetery, Cherry Hill. In lieu of flowers, Carmelo would have preferred memorial contributions to the International Committee of the Red Cross (https://www.icrc.org/en/donate) or Mèdecines Sans Frontieres (https://www.msf.org/donate).
