Carol Ann Prendergast

(nee Yanessa) Carol Ann Prendergast, on August 19, 2025 age 86 of Cherry Hill, NJ born and raised in South Philadelphia, PA.  Beloved wife of Thomas Michael Prendergast. Dear mother of David Michael Prendergast and Thomas John Prendergast.  Loving grandmother of Colin Thomas, Madeline Rose, Sara Rose, Thomas Michael II, and Ava Jane. Cherished sister of Cara Marino and Marie Ratner, as well as her “non - blood” sisters Joanne Perret and Nancy Fala. Predeceased by her parents Rose Libertz and John McIlvaine.

Carol was born on April 24th, 1939 in South Philadelphia where she was raised and spent her formative years.  Her family were parishioners of St. Monica’s R.C. Church and she went on to graduate with honors from Halihan Girls High School in South Philadelphia.

Carol was a CCD teacher for decades, often volunteering to teach the 8th grade boys that tended to be less engaged in the curriculum.  Carol was an avid tennis player and competed in tournaments, leagues and the senior Olympics.  She achieved her certificate for Certified trainer.

Carol loved the Franciscan Missionary sisters of the Infant Jesus in Cherry Hill and volunteered to help teach English to the new sisters. Her other interests included southwest native American culture. She visited Navaho and Zuni tribes and schools across New Mexico with her beloved cousin Joanne.  

Carol was loved by all of those close to her.  An outgoing person with a huge personality, she made friends instantly wherever she went.  Her positive attitude was contagious, and she was always “the life of the party.”  A very active individual into her 80s, she loved competing, but also just going for walks and enjoying a beautiful day with her people.

Most importantly, Carol was a devoted wife, mother and Nana to her 5 grandchildren. She adored her family and friends and will be greatly missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing and funeral on Thursday morning from 10:00am to 11:00am at The Catholic Community of Christ Our Light Church, 402 North Kings Highway, Cherry Hill, NJ 08034. Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11:00am Thursday. Arr. by BOCCO FUNERAL HOME, Cherry Hill.
