Edith Alessi Obituary

(nee Meloni) Edith Alessi, on April 26, 2026 age 101, of Pennsauken, NJ. Beloved wife of the late Angelo S. Alessi. Dear mother of Patricia (Thomas) Marchisello, Margaret (Gary) Kaiser and Maria (Charles) Frank. Loving grandmother of Thomas (Kristin) Marchisello, Matthew (Melissa) Marchisello, Christian (Reagan) Frank, Andrew (Kelly) Kaiser, Joshua (Danielle) Frank and Elizabeth (Nicholas) Borencamp; great-grandmother of 11. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Edith (Italia) was born on December 20,1924 at her family’s home in Camden, N.J. She was the second of five children born to Vito and Lena Meloni.  Edith often reflected that her life was enriched by loving , faith-filled , hard working Italian Immigrants parents who taught her to love her Catholic Faith and Italian - American heritage.

Edith attended Camden High School and after graduation, she was employed in the offices of the Campbell Soup Company.

In 1951, Edith married Angelo Alessi,  and together they raised three daughters. Throughout her life , she devoted herself to being a loving wife and nurturing mother, grandmother and great-grandmother . She was also a loving and caring aunt to her devoted nieces and nephews.

Edith was faithful to living her faith in God and attended many Bible studies, conferences and retreats. She also attended daily Mass and was a Eucharistic Minister at her Parish of St. Stephen’s.

Edith loved to entertain and prepare wonderful meals for her family and friends and contributed to the Cathedral Kitchen in Camden.

She was an excellent baker who liked trying new recipes and then sharing her cakes and cookies with everyone for any occasion.

Edith was also a lifelong learner who cherished her time reading good books , watching Masterpiece Theater, and playing games with family and friends. She also filled her home with the Sounds of Music while listening to her favorite Operas, classical and spiritual music, as well as the beautiful music of her generation!

Edith was also grateful that she was able to enjoy a bit of travel with  friends after her retirement from Pennsauken Municipal Township.

At 100 years of age, Edith became a resident of Villa Raffaella, where she continued to embrace all the blessings that God had graciously given. She felt blest to be living in a Faith filled Assisted Living Community where she was surrounded by loving and caring Sisters, nurses, caregivers,  staff and newfound friends!

We celebrate and cherish the beautiful life of our Mother , grandmother, great-grandmother , aunt and friend. We are thankful to our God who blest her with a long and Wonderful Life !
