George Washington Hollingsworth was born in Fitzgerald, GA to the proud parents of Charlie and Carrie Bell Hollingsworth on February 22, 1939. George was the second oldest of five children. George had a very exciting childhood with his two brothers, Charlie Hollingsworth and  William James Hollingsworth (deceased), and two sisters, Easter Vivian Hollingsworth Black-Johnson (deceased) and Yvonne Hollingsworth-Bonsu.  He was very playful as a child. He loved sports and was a hustler. He has worked since he was a young man. Although George was not fond of school, he did extremely well.

George left Fitzgerald, GA as a young boy and moved to New York City with his family. At the age of 18,  George enlisted in the United States Army and completed two years of Service before being Honorably Discharged.

George married Jennie Ann Hollingsworth and had four beautiful children, Yvonne Hollingsworth (deceased), George Hollingsworth Jr. (deceased), William Hollingsworth and Shandera Hollingsworth. They lived a good life together until their separation.

George met Ruth Brown and had a beautiful baby girl named Carol Brown-Murphy. He also loved and cared for four stepchildren; George Brown, Ruthann Brown, Christine Brown, and Sylvia Brown.

In April of 1989, George met Leah. He was coming out of the Haagen Ice Cream Store and saw Leah walking down the street. He said, “Excuse me Miss, would you like to share this ice cream cake with me.” George told Leah that she would be his wife and four months later on August 12, 1989, they were married..  George and Leah spent thirty two beautiful years together. They loved to travel. They fell in love with Vegas and moved there for six years.. He loved and cared for his two step daughters, Carleah and Catherine English.

George landed a great job working at Payne Webber on Wall Street which he loved tremendously. He received many great perks from this job. The greatest perk was having amazing seats at Shea Stadium. If you knew George you knew he loved the METS!
