(nee Pilat) Jacqueline Medzie passed away peacefully on November 14, 2022. Beloved wife of the late Alfred M. Medzie. Jackie was the loving daughter of the late Martin J. and Elizabeth Pilat (nee Canney). Cherished mother and friend to Teresa Haas (George Flunt), Nancy Halloran (William), Kathleen Haas (Christopher), and the late John Haas, Joseph Haas, and Michael Haas. Jackie is survived by her best friend of 80 years Fran Woznicki. She is also survived by several grandsons and granddaughters, and many nieces and nephews.
Jacqueline (Jackie) was born and raised in Philadelphia, where she attended Saint Anne’s Grade School and Hallahan High School. After raising six children with her first husband Robert, Jackie returned to school at Neumann College, and received her Master of Human Services degree from Lincoln University (1982).
In 1994, Jackie met and married her second husband, Alfred, who she described as a good husband – steady, reliable, dependable, and always kept his word.
Jackie worked as a mental health therapist & addictions counselor in Philadelphia and Bensalem PA, then in Florida. While in Florida, she was proud to work on the Seminole Indian Reservation in Okeechobee. She retired after 25 years in the field.
Jackie and Al moved back to the Pennsylvania/ New Jersey area to be closer to friends and children. She belonged to the Legion of Mary, Holy Name Society, and participated in parish council and several grief groups.
Jackie’s biggest life lesson: “I don’t have all the answers, only God does.”
Relatives and friends are invited to the visitation on Friday morning, November 18th, from 9:30AM to 10:30AM at St. Simon Stock Parish/OLMC Church, 178 W. White Horse Pike Berlin, NJ 08009 where the funeral Mass will begin at 10:30AM.
