John "Jack" Acconey Obituary

Beloved father and grandfather, John “Jack” Acconey, affectionately known as "Pop Pop Jack" to his grandchildren, died peacefully in his home in Boca Raton, Florida on Tuesday, April 15th,  2025.  He was 70 years old.

Jack is survived by his children, Christopher Acconey(Emmi), Jenna Acconey, and his grandchildren, Lily, Wesley, and Dean Acconey.

Jack was born on September 4th, 1954 in Woodbury, New Jersey to Mary and Frank Acconey. He graduated from Camden County Vocational High School with a concentration in electrical engineering.  Jack later went to work for his father,  Frank Acconey at his company Homan Construction, and became one of the most sought after heavy equipment and crane operators in the region.  In 1975 he settled his family in Medford Lakes, and later, Indian Mills, New Jersey.  After many years in construction working along side his father, his successful career continued when he formed Homan Communications in the early 1980s with his beloved friend and business partner, Harry Holmes.  The company stemmed from his love of electronics and the need for a way for Homan Construction employees to communicate.  In 2001, Frank, Jack, and Christopher Acconey formed Coney Ice, which grew into a multi-unit Rita’s Italian Ice Franchise.  Together, along with the help of various family members and the beloved “Rita’s Girls” they were able to develop some of the top locations in the entire franchise.  After countless years of work, Jack retired to Boca Raton, Florida to be close to his children and grandchildren.

Family and friends remember Jack as a kind, funny, driven man who would do anything for his loved ones.

Relatives and friends of the family will meet for his memorial on Friday, May 23rd, 2025 from 9:30am to 11:00am at the Bocco Funeral Home, 1300 North Kings Hwy, Cherry Hill, NJ. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00am on Friday, in the funeral home. Entombment will be private. The family would like to thank Violet James for her love, support, dedication, and care of Jack in the final chapter of his life.
