Laurel E. Martin

Laurel E. Martin (nee Kennedy), of Atco, NJ went to be with Jesus on Sunday, October 8th, 2023 at the age of 88 years old. She had been living at Elmwood Hills Healthcare Center in Blackwood, NJ for the past year. Preceeded in death by her husband Albert H. Martin Jr. in 2017, to whom she had been married for 58 years. Loving mother of Albert H. Martin, III of Philadelphia, PA, Paul B. Martin (wife Lori) of Holmes, PA. Sister of Florence Frame (nee Kennedy) of Buckeye AZ and Kenneth Kennedy of Woodbury NJ. Close family friends with Debbie Hunte (Husband Derrick Hunte) of Lindenwold, NJ. Lovingly known as "grammy" to Faith and Joshua Hunte whom she babysat often.

Laurel graduated Woodbury High School in Woodbury, NJ and attended Philadelphia College of the Bible. She also worked various full and part time jobs including babysitting and housekeeping. One of her more interesting jobs was working for Tiona Petroleum Company of Philadelphia, PA, identifying and sorting samples by scent alone, and her nose was rarely wrong. In 1965, she and her husband moved to a small farm in Atco. She raised dairy goats, and was active in a local 4-H club with her sons for many years. She also taught Sunday School where her husband was Pastor at 4 different churches for over 45 years: Friendship Bible Church, Presidential Lakes, Kresson Bible Church, and New Freedom Bible Church.

Laurel's Memorial Service will be held Saturday October 28, 2023 at the New Freedom Bible Church, 58 West Factory Rd at Williamstown and New Freedom Rds., Berlin, NJ 08009. Relatives and friends are invited for the visitation at 10:00 - 10:30 AM, followed by a Memorial Service at 10:30 - 11:30 AM. Interment will be after the service at New Freedom Cemetery in Berlin, NJ. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her memory to the New Freedom Bible Church, PO Box 403, Berlin, NJ 08009.
