Marie Anne Fonseca (nee Thibedeau), age 79, of Cherry Hill, passed away peacefully at home on March 26, 2022. She is survived by her eight loving and devoted children: Gabriel Fonseca, Ana (Joe) Freed, Alexandra Fonseca, Luis (Patty) Fonseca, Amanda (Maurice) Trudeau, Manuel Fonseca, Andrea (Tony) Fonseca-Romen, and Alicia Fonseca. She is also survived by her nineteen grandchildren: Anthony Porter, Matthew Freed (Izzy), Francesco Porter, Gabrielle Porter, Freya Thanner, Ryan Freed, Angelina Porter, Logan Freed, Gabriel Fonseca, Aiyanna Fonseca, Maurice Carlos Trudeau, Felicia Fonseca, Ian Fonseca, Mya Fonseca, Maxwell Romen, Julian Trudeau, Miles Romen, Samuel Fonseca, and Marcus Romen; and her four great-grandchildren: Alexander Porter, Finn Freed, Nikolas Porter, and Liliana Porter.
Marie was born on January 21, 1943, in Providence, Rhode Island to the late Frederick A. Thibedeau and Florence L. Thibedeau (nee Bourcier). Marie was raised along with her big sisters, Helen Ferrarini, and the late Louise F. Thibedeau, in Franklin, Massachusetts. Marie graduated from Franklin High School in 1960 and studied journalism at Northeastern University in Boston. After residing in New England for quite some time, Marie and her family relocated to Cherry Hill, New Jersey in the winter of 1981. Marie was a dedicated mother and took great joy and pride in raising her children. Marie was involved in all her children’s activities, from PTA to sports boosters, to scouts, to the sidelines of every sporting event and activity. Marie also relished in becoming a beloved “Memom” to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Marie was a devout Catholic and was very involved in the Catholic Church of St. Mary, teaching CCD as well as helping to run the St. Mary’s Women’s Bowling League, where she made many friends. Marie also had a wicked sense of humor and loved a good cup of coffee. In her spare time, Marie was a voracious reader and an avid sports fan. Marie could often be seen falling asleep reading a book or cheering (unapologetically) for the New England Patriots, the Boston Bruins, the Boston Celtics, and the Boston Red Sox.
