Richardson "Dick" Roberts, Jr.

Richardson "Dick" Roberts, Jr., on April 24, 2025, age 91 of Vineland, NJ, formerly of Cherry Hill, NJ and Lewes, DE. Beloved father of Nancy Startare, Joanne Roberts and the late Amy Roberts. 

Born July 1, 1933, the eldest son of a career Navy family, Dick spent his early years on the Naval Base in Puerto Rico, where he became fluent in Spanish and graduated from kindergarten at the Academia del Perpetua Socorro in June 1939.

After several moves throughout the country, Dick’s family settled in Lewes, Delaware where he graduated from High School and made many lifelong friends. Upon graduation, he spent 3 years in the US Coast Guard during the Korean War, assigned to icebreaker ships. Afterwards he attended Drexel University, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, followed by a Master’s degree at the University of Pennsylvania.

Dick married Nancy Ann Bolich and settled in Cherry Hill, NJ to raise a family. Upon retiring from a long career as an Electrical Engineer, he spent several years tutoring local college students.

Dick loved music, especially jazz, and enjoyed playing the clarinet and saxophone. He was an avid reader and enjoyed humor. He had a special fondness for comic strips and he never met a flavor of ice cream he didn’t like.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to his viewing and funeral on Wednesday, April 30th from 10:00AM to 11:00AM in the BOCCO FUNERAL HOME, 1300 North Kings Hwy., Cherry Hill, NJ 08034. Funeral services will be conducted 11:00AM Wednesday in the funeral home. Interment Locustwood Memorial Park, Cherry Hill.
